Big Chicken Day!

Today was the day we ate the big chicken!! It cooked in the ovens for hours and hours. Mommy said it was really Thanks-giving... I is thankful that Mommy and Frank is giving me some big chickens! I hate waiting, but I was patient and asked nicely for my serving.

When it came out of the ovens, we had to wait even longer! Mommy made some gravee, and heated up the other foods that she and Frank made. It smelled soooo yummy! When I got a look at it, it looked pretty yummy too!

Frank and Mommy got a new terkey platter and it's pretty cool. It came from Pottery Barn. A barn with no chickens. Weird.

Charley got a special dindins with some terkey, some gravy, and some creamed spinach. I was so excited I might have accidentally flung kibbles across the room and got some spinach on the wall... but I cleaned up every bit! My plate was not as pretty as Mommy's:

When we was done, there was a lot left. Frank likes leftovers. I think that they should have shared more with Charley.

I wish every day was big chicken eating day!

Traveling Charley and the Big Chicken!!!

Hi everybody! I know I hasn't been writing much in my bloggie lately, but I has a big update! It's almost holiday time, and I looooves holidays! Usually there is lots of foods, lots of sleeping, and lots of fun with peoples. Yesterday, Frank went to Gettysburg, PA where he likes to go to visit the battlefields, and he took Charley with him! Frank took lots of fotos of Charley exploring the battlefields. I is good at posing for fotos, but I was distracted by all the cool stuffs around to look at and sniff!

Frank says that I look like I'm on a velvet pillow in this foto. I think it needs to be softer.

I got to be King of the Mountain at Little Round Top. I don't understand the name, because it was not very little, and did not look round. But it was fun to be high up!

And since it was a battlefield, of course I had to get a foto of me with a flag.

The best part is that on the way home, we stopped in Maryland at a big chicken farm! My mom says it's a terkee, but it just looks like a big chicken to me! When we gots home at night time, Mommy helped so I could get a close up look.

Dunno why I needed to be soopervized. It's not like I wanted to lick it. Or maybe just a little.

I tried to claim the big chicken for Charley. I don't think it worked.

Then I got even more confused cuz mommy and frank made some yummy stuff (they said it's called 'brine') and then put the chicken in a bag with it. It looked less like a chicken... but I'm still willing to eat it!

It's been a good fun few days! Tomorrow we gets to eat the big chicken! Hooray!

Happy Berfday!

My moms daddy (we call him Big Dad) had a berfday last weekend! Charley got to go with Frank and Mommy to their house to celebrate. I gots to play with my sister Gracie, and then the peoples went to a moovie called Skyfall. I asked if I could go cuz I heard that if the sky is falling there might be a little chicken involved, but they said no.

It's okay though, cuz I still got to play with Gracie, and I also got to get some yummies when everyone got home and made dindins. After dinners, Big Dad made fancy coffees (cappuccinos and espressos and lungos).

Then the peoples had cupcakes from a bakery that does yummy ones that were red velvet, mango, and peanut butter cup. No cupcakes for Charley and Gracie :-(

They had sooper cool candles - the flames were colors! I would have gotten a closer look but I'm not allowed in the fancy eating room. I think Big Mom thought they were cool too.

Happy Berfday Big Dad! Maybe next year you'll share your cake with Charley?

Breaux Vineyards Picnic Day!

Today we all got to go to Breaux Vineyards for a picnic! Apparently, my mommy owed Frank a picnic, so she made chicken salad sammiches, potato salad, and other picnic stuffs, and we went! If you don't know what a picnic is, it's AWESOME. It's like dindins, only the peoples eat on the floor with the puppies! Mommy and Frank brought books to read, which is boring... Charley would rather be chasing squirrels. It was cold outside at first, but then the sun came out and Charley got to fall asleep in a sunbeam, which is one of my favorite things!

Ginger and Frank felled asleep in the sun too. Hee hee...

My mommy took some pictures of me with her wine glass, because peoples kept walking by and going 'oooo' cuz it looked like Charley was drinking wines. (Charley was not drinking wines, I is not 21).

We had a fun day!

I SAW CHICKENS!

Today was the bestestest day of my whole life! And trust me, I has had some pretty awesome days. Today I went to Cox's Farm with Frank and Mommy. First, I got to has some watermelons. It was yummy. Then we went past lots of plants and stuff, which smelled cool. Then we went around the corner and saw... CHICKENS! Lots and lots of thems!



I was soooo excited that I barked a whole lot. Frank tried to make me stop but it was absolutely no use (he should know that by now). But I did try super hard to be quieter so I could stay with the chickens a bit longer.



Then we came homes and mommy and Frank wanted me to drink some water but I didn't really feel like it (I'm kinda scared of water, but don't tell anyone). So to convince me to drink some, we invented a new game! Bobbing for Kibbles! It's sooper fun! I has a video but can't upload it for some reason... I will try later.

Brunch Visit!

Another thing I has been doing a lot lately is visiting big mom and big dad. They lives in a different house and we have to go in the vroom vroom to get theres. Mommy says I has to stop crying so much when we is driving there, but I can't help it, I is sooo excited!

In March I gots to visit for brunch (it's like breakfast, but AGAIN!). I also got ot see my sister Gracie! I misses her, and I is glad she's coming back to the area soon so we can play lots!


When I is not playing with Gracie, my favorite thing to do at big mom and big dad's house is to look out the ginormous window in the kitchen. If I is lucky, I see some squirrels!!


We had lots of good foods. But none for Charley (well, except a few blueberries, but don't tell anybodies!)



And after most of it got eaten, I even got to sit at the table!



After long days of playing with Gracie I usually need a lot of sleep. Thank goodness for my Snoozer!

A favorite snack!

One thing I did lots of times in the last few months is have treats! It's one of my favoritest things in the whole wide worlds. And one of my favoritestest treats is chickens. But when there isn't any chickens, there's sometimes carrots! I thinks theys frozen carrots, because they's sooper cold. But they is sooooo yummy... a few weeks ago I got a really big one!

Since you has nothing better to do, hope you enjoy watching Charley has a carrot. Speedy looks sad, but don't be fooled! He already ate his carrot. I promise!

Book Club?

So Mommy went to a Book Club meeting tonight (she says 'meeting' but I know she means 'party' - probably with chickens... I wishes doggies was invited!). Apparently Charley has been bad about writing in this bloggie. Oopsies!

It has been a sooper long day so all I can thinks about is sleepie peepies. Which reminds me: the reason I know that book club meetings is actually parties with chickens!

So not so long ago, my mommy said that it's her turn to have book club at her house. We was in Reston, and Mommy and Frank spent lots of time with foods and cleaning, and they kept saying that they wished Ginger and Speedy would stop letting their hairs out everywheres (I don't think that they can stop, I asked them). Then lots of peoples camed over! I barked a little at first, because I didn't know them all, but then I realized that peopels = FOODS!

The FOODS WAS AWESOME! There was cheese and crackers and potatoes and strawberries and one person brought a CHICKEN STEW! Oh man... it was the bestestest night of my life! My mommy has awesome friends that think I'm cute when I sit up on my butt and paw the air. Also when I make my eyes sooper big and licks my lips. Mommy and Frank don't fall for that anymores... but mommy's friends gaves me chicken, and potatoes, and cheese, and even fruits! I had sooooo much fun that I forgot I was at a party and fell asleep in Kay-tees lap... it was comfy. Then I woked up and got more foods!

I was so tired after all the excitement that I just jumped up on mommy's bed and fell asleep. Usually I sleeps all curled up in a ball to start, but I didn't bother that night... mommy thought it was funny so she took a pixtur and I'm posting it here. Don't I look like I's been asleep for hours?

Mommy had a pixtur of when I sleeped in a ball the normal way. I putted it at the top of this bloggie post so you can looks at the differences. I don't know why I do this, but I usually cover up my schnoz. It stays nice and warm that way...

I guesses it's time for bed: Mommy wants to use the compooter to do some kind of works or something silly like that. Charley is smart and he's going to BED!

Helloooo inter-nets!

Hi bloggie world! This is Charley! I has a lot of updates, but my mommy has been sooo sooper busy that I couldn't get on the compooter until nows. I had to beg and beg and be extra-specially-awesome to convince her, but here I am!

So I has been doing lots of fun stuff. I went to Oktoberfest about 1 weeks ago and it was pretty outside. Mommy and Frank and some of their friends let me have some of their pumpkin custard. No beers for Charley though. I met lots of doggies and barked at some ginormous aminals that mommy said are called horsies.

A while befores that, I went to a house that is sooper big! Frank says it was George's house: he was a Prezzi-Dent and his house is called Mount Vernon. Mommy wanted to read her book (boring) but it meant that Ginger and Speedy and Charley got to play outside in George's backyard while she read her book and Frank explored inside the houses (no puppies allowed in the houses... stoopid rules). A whiles before we went to the big backyard (I wishes it had a fence so I could run all over the place... but I had to stay with Mommy... oh well), Frank went to a place called Wylie Waggs and got new toys! Then mommy got some halloweenie toys at Weber's! I loooooooooooves toys! So much that mommy pulled them into a pile all around Charley and even though I pretended to hate it at first, I went back to the pile and hung out in it all the times after. It's fun to be with my toys.


Alsos, this last weekend we had a visitor! His name was Felix, and he's sooper cool! I wuz worried at firsts because Frank said he liked him a lot and he was really awesome and stuffs... I was worried that he liked Felix more than Charley! But when Felix got here, I figured out that Frank was right. Felix is 13, but he is sooper cool and even though he wouldn't play with me I like him lots. Felix's mommy and daddy brought prezzies for Frank and Mommy, and an awesome toy for Charley!! (Mommy said it was for Ginger and Speedy too, but I know it is really for Charley) The toy was a monkee... it was cool and squeaky. I killed the big squeekie right away, but I'm saving the little ones for later.

Anyways, visitors are super-fun! I gots the extra treats that Felix didn't feel like eating (isn't that crazy? What doggie doesn't feel like eating ALL THE TIME?). We all got along great! Tonight Felix's mommy and daddy and a very small person named Kerry came and picked him up. We played for awhiles, and I got lots of pets. Kerry threw my squeegie and I chased her all around, it was awesome fun! Then they all left with Felix and Charley was sad... but mommy and Frank say that maybe we'll visit again soon!

Charley is veeery tired now. I runned three and one half miles with mommy and frank today! I don't know what a mile is... but everyones looks impressed when I tell them. I guess it's a long way?

I loves doxie meetups!

Hihihi to everybodies out in the bloggie world! I has been sooper busies as usual, but I has to share something cools I did the other days.

Mommy sometimes takes me to something called a doxie meetup. It's like a big party for just long doggies like I is. This time it was at a person called Brookes house. Brookes house has a pool! I got there and I remembered it from last year. I learned to swim in her pool last year. This time I was still scared but not as much scared. Mommy put me in a few times. I think I might have liked it but not quite enough to jump in myself yet. There were doggies everywheres, and there was even doggie cheesecake! Mommy shared some of her hot doggie too.

Gardening and going to a Vineyard!

This weekend has been hugely lots of fun! Gracie came to visit, and then I went to visit Gracie. I gots to play muchos with scooter, and then we did some new stuffs for the rest of the weekend which I is sooper excited to tell you about!!















Firsts, yesterdays mommy did something called gardening. She said that she didn't like the stuff growing outsides of the house and so she and Patrick dug everythings up (except the tree) and planted new flowers and stuffs. It looks lots better. And Scooter got to dig, so he was sooper happy.

Then today, we wents to a vineyard! It was called Loudoun Valley Vineyard. I don't know what a vine is. But I know what a yard is. It was not what I expected. There was no fences. But lots of grass and plants and people and doggies. Mommy said it was an event called "Bark and Wine" which means the doggies get to bark and walk around and the peoples get to have wines. I didn't get any wines. But when we got there, we went to a tent and mommy and Patrick got baggies that had goodies for me and Scooter! They had bandannas and water and cookies!

We took a walk around the vineyard and then hung out whiles mommy and Patrick had some wine and some foods from a picnic basket. They shared the foods but not the wine. The foods was good... they hads bread and brie and salami and grapes and apples and cookies. I got some of everything but the grapes and cookies.

By the times we was done, we was all pooped. It's a long but fun weekend. And mommy said she gets to stay home tomorrow from work. Hooray!

Me LOOOOOOOOOOOOVES the doggie park!

I is sooper happy cuz the weather has been nice for the last lots of days. It was snowy and icy and cold and wet befores that. So when weather is good and happy, mommy takes me to the doggie park! We went a few dayses ago, and this time she took pixtures! There was this sooper cool schnoodle there named MJ who I played with lots. And of course I played with Scooter a lot too! The other doggie in the pixture is Miles.

She also tooks videos of me running arounds and arounds, which is my favorite thing to do some days. Some days I likes to kind of just watch and wander around. But this day I was soooooooooooo excited to be at the doggie park that I ran for ages! I ran lots with MJ, and some more with a little white doggie that was cool. I didn't know her name thoughs.

So we gots to stay at the doggie park for ages! It was sooper fun. I played and played and played. Mommy brought some kibble too, and she called me to come sometimes and gave me one. She says that I never listens when we is at the park, so we has to practice. I think that's okies, since it means I get a yummy!

After we finished at the doggie park, we had dindins. And then I think we played some mores. But I can't remember. But one day (maybe this day) Patrick brought me a bobo toy! Scooter and I played and played and then we played tug o wars. Then we destroyed it! Mwahahaha. We chewed it all up. Patrick hid the squeaky from us thoughs. I has pixtures of that too, and maybe some more mooo vies. I'll ask mommy if we can post some of it sometime soon. For now's here's more moovies from the day at the doggie park! I guesses I has lots to say. I also had a great time yesterdays with my mommy's mommy and my mommy's daddy and my auntie Julie and Gracie. I got lots of rubs, and I alsos got to play a game with a ball where mommy and mommy's daddy rolled it around and Gracie and I's chased it! It was soooper cool.

Last Saturday on the firstest day of the lastest month of this year, mommy told me it was my birthday! She seemed so excited! So of courses I got excited alsos. I jumped and gave kisses and then we gots to go to Wylie Waggs, a great store just for doggies! Scooter and Patrick came too. It smelled so yummy in there, and when mommy wasn't looking I put my face in the display of treats (but didn't manage to grab any… *sigh*).



















But it's okies cuz then mommy bought me a fluffy toy that makes a noise, and a cookie shaped like a paw! Patrick bought cookies shaped like bones. And we bought a prezzie for Gracie (I wanted to eat it, but mommy said it was for Gracie, so I guess that's okay).


Then the nextest day I thought that berfday was over, but mommy said we celebrates all the weekend long! Mommy put my sweatshirt on me cuz iz cold as a puppy nose outside! Then we went to Auntie Julie's house and got to see Gracie!

















Scooter came with me, and we had a parteeee. I's never really had a partee before, cept maybe when Auntie Julie had one awhile ago. But this partee was sooo much cooler cuz we gots to eat cake! Auntie Julie made this peanut butter carrrotty cakey with frosting and it was sooooo yummy we ate it all up quick! It was so good that I didn't even mind those silly hats that mommy made us wear.

I guesses that berfday is a good thing. I hopes I gets another one soon!

Hi, my name is Charley and I'm an (almost) 10 month old dachshund mix! My friend Scooter has a bloggie and so I got jealous. My mom said I could have one too... but it took a looooooooot of convincing. I had to be super cute for ages and she finally gave in! Hmm... the most importantest thingie about me to know is that my mommy never feeds me. Never. I'm always soooo hungry. Please give me some food!? Haha, just joking a little bit, she feeds me, but I'm always hungry anyway! My favorite food is peanut butter, chicken, bacon, kibble, leaves, ice cubes, cheese, fruit, steak, rice, chicken chips, duck chips, chicken tenders, liver treats... hehe I could go on for aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages. I'm so excited thinking about all this food I gotta jump around a bit. Whee!!!
